Environmental Policy

Print Applied Technology Pty Ltd (PAT) recognises the importance of maintaining a continuous focus on environmental responsibility in undertaking its print production operations.

Environmental management within our production facilities is considered a critical aspect of our business and to this end a great deal of thought and investment has been made to ensure that we minimize any negative impact to the environment.

Our investment in a world-class solvent recycling system from Europe has enabled us to recycle all our contaminated press solvent liquids for reuse instead of disposing of this material after a single use, which is traditional industry practice.

We believe that our "Ecoclean" technology is unique to the PAT as no other Printing company in Tasmania has similar solvent recycling technology. This "Ecoclean" system enables us to clean and recycle some 5,000 litres of solvent per annum that would have normally been disposed of after a single use.

The recycling of solvents has also contributed to significant monetary savings to the business as well as delivering a huge benefit to the environment and cost savings to our customers.

PAT also uses vegetable based inks where possible on its presses to reduce any detrimental impact solvent-based inks may have on the environment.

We have also installed environmentally friendly pre-press technology that has enabled us to completely dispose of the need to use and process photographic film and associated chemicals in making offset printing plates.

All our offset printing plates are recycled.

The management of paper waste materials is also a major consideration at PAT. In recent times we have installed a waste paper extraction system and sophisticated compaction unit to capture and bundle waste paper materials that are generated during the print production cycle.

Waste paper from our factory is compacted into large bales and collected for recycling purposes, which extends the life of the base paper fibres and reduces landfill.

The PAT will remain ever vigilant in reducing the impact of its operations on the environment and at the same time delivering better valued services to our many customers and the community.
